More Frills and Frolics - Spring is in the Air !!

We had a wonderful girlie weekend here in Stonegate last weekend - John was away so Becca and Hannah had a free for all with Jean and really tarted us all up ready for a visit by Auntie Astrid from Bossland at Yankee Candle. We were really pleased when that rather overpowering "Spring Bouquet" was replaced in the window by "Vanilla Lime", she's such a bossy boots at this time of year whereas "Vanilla Lime" is just sweet and unassuming - just really nice - like Auntie Kate.
None of us can remember the shop ever being this full of flowers before - it's Jean - she loves them! She ran out of vases you know, but she still managed to put them out somehow. We don't mind at all it sets off our pretty fragrances so well - though "Roasted Coffee" is feeling a bit out of place ............ and "Freesia" is livid that she has been discontinued.
Did you know that Kate is off to Morocco shortly and she is getting excited - but not nearly as excited as "Rose of Morocco" because Kate is taking her on the trip too, with two of her sisters for Kate's friends!! "Freesia" was particularly upset about her coming demise when everyone else seemed happy and wept, and wept - she cried that she had never been allowed to go anywhere wonderful (surely York is better than anywhere else anyway!!??). Jean took pity on her and she carefully parcelled up "Freesia's" big sister (we call her "Small Jar") and sent her on a long journey over the sea to rich Auntie Karen in Canada so that "Freesia" would have an adventure to sing about as Spring comes rolling in.
We just don't understand some people that come in here. You'd think that they would be so keen to try a fresh Spring fragrance - "Sparkling Lemon", "Spring Bouquet", "Midnight Jasmine" and "Sheer Gardenia" all preen themselves and wriggle to the front edge of their trays in anticipation (forward little madams at times they are!) but then customers can be heard enthusing over "Farmhouse Apple" and "Harvest" instead. We just can't understand it, we've never been able to follow some human behaviour at all!!! John says it's only natural and we should just relax and enjoy his company - but what does he know, he's only a man!!!
What a quiet week it's proving to be, not a Prada or Fendi Bag in sight, only windswept hair and waterproofs! We know it will liven up next week but we will miss Kate for a while (except our excited friend Rose of course).
John and Jean are talking about going to Italy this year, guess why, that hunk of a son of theirs (we saw him 10 days ago) is getting married and they'll be away celebrating it. Of course, there could be a bit of strife in the shop nearer the day because there is a lot of competition to be taken with them - "Mediterranean Cypress", "Sun and Sand" and "Midsummer Night" all think they'll be going along for a holiday.............. oh dear, I do hate strife!! Anyway, it's time for a knees up with the Schoolhouse Ducks tonight - so we'll all enjoy that........ Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
